About the Hybrid Workshop Experience

Embark on a seamless blend of knowledge and hands-on exploration with our exclusive hybrid workshop series. Delve into the world of astrophotography with a carefully curated program that combines insightful discussions and thrilling in-person experiences.

  • Part 1: Virtual Session (3:00PM, 1 Hours) Gear up for your immersive in-person session the following week by ensuring you're equipped for success prior to your arrival here on the property. Learn about the latest advancements in astrophotography equipment and software that will empower you to capture stunning images of the cosmos. The one-week gap between sessions isn't just a break – it's your opportunity to refine your toolkit. Use this time to order or acquire any gear needed to enhance your astrophotography experience. Imagine the anticipation as you prepare to transform your newfound knowledge into breathtaking celestial portraits.

  • Part 2: Eagle Eye Observatory: In-Person Session (7PM, 2.5 Hours) Delve into the heart of astrophotography as Phil guides you through the intricacies of long exposures and the art of image processing. Learn the secrets to transforming your night sky captures into awe-inspiring celestial masterpieces. As your images come to life on your camera, immerse yourself in an enchanting astronomy session at our Eagle Eye Observatory. Marvel at the celestial wonders through state-of-the-art telescopes, a unique experience that unfolds while your images are being crafted into perfection. The intimate setting of our in-person sessions provides the perfect backdrop for hands-on learning, ensuring you not only grasp the techniques but also feel the magic of the night sky. 

  • Part 3: Image Processing: In-Person Session (2:00PM, 2 Hours) The workshop will finish with this session, which is an in-depth crash course into processing the images that you captured. You’ll learn how to use free software to process the images you captured during your night at the observatory and turn them into stunning views of the cosmos. 

What You’ll Need to Participate..

  1. DSLR or Mirrorless Camera (with Manual mode function)

  2. Wide-angle lens (18mm or wider)

  3. Basic knowledge of camera functions like shutter speed, ISO, F stop, etc.

  4. Stable tripod

  5. Intervalometer (either built-into the camera or a remote unit that attaches to the camera by cable or Bluetooth/infrared)

  6. High-capacity SD card (64GB minimum)

  7. SD Card reader (either in the laptop or a separate connected USB reader driver)

  8. Red flashlight (or white flashlight with red cellophane taped over it)
