Let’s Get Spooky, Thankful & Joyous

SPOOKY

October is a great time to visit Canyon of the Eagles, not just because American Bald Eagles and Monarch Butterflies are in residence but because we have a whole month of fun in-store for you leading up to Halloween weekend.

Our pumpkins come from Sweet Berry Farm, located 20-minutes from the resort.

Pumpkin decoratingWe’ve got the pumpkins and decorating supplies, and you provide the creativity. Take home your masterpiece and the memories. Check out the decorating schedule – more dates to be added in October.

Guided Nature Walks-Join Willard Horn, Highland Lakes Master Gardener, each Sunday morning in October for a special guided nature walk to learn about The Spooky Side of Nature. Willard will share his vast knowledge of poisonous plants, scary animals, snakes, insects, and nocturnal creatures that rule the night. Bwahaha! In addition, he will touch on the frightening consequences to nature from dramatic temperature changes.

Fall Photo Spot– Stop by our fall photo spot located at Sunset Point.  We will embellish this always Insta-worthy spot at Canyon of the Eagles with hay bales and giant pumpkins. It’s hard to upstage the stunning backdrop of Lake Buchanan, but we are going to try. If you time it right, your pic will include a sunset.

When you post on social media, be sure to tag us using #CanyonOfTheEagles. We will be sharing your posts all month long! In addition, we would love for you to Follow-us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

(Movies Under The Stars begins after sunset. October movies are all Halloween-themed)

Movies Under The Stars – We are going silly-spooky in October, showing family-friendly Halloween-themed films each Friday night when it is dark.

Storytelling-Who doesn’t like a family-friendly ghost story with just the right amount of Halloween humor. See our Halloween storytelling schedule here.

Flavored Coffees– Coffee lovers rejoice; we will offer a selection of seasonal syrups and toppings to add to your coffee throughout the day and month. Mmm.

THANKFUL

(Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve dinners are for overnight guests only. All are welcome to Christmas dinner, including orders for take-out)

With the holidays before us, the feeling of stress can sometimes overshadow the many joys of the season. So why not let Canyon of the Eagles reduce some of the holiday stress that falls on your shoulders? Take a look at the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve menus just posted on our website. Pastry Chef Carl has paired desserts for each of Chef Matthew’s tantalizing menus. So save room for dessert; it’s the most important meal of the day!

Chef Mathew has also released new Sunday brunch, lunch, and dinner menus. And as always, sourcing quality meat and local produce for our guests to enjoy.

Our planning means your to-do list just got much shorter; all that’s left for you to do is make two reservations; one to stay and one to dine.  Easy-peasy.

JOYOUS

(Magic hour, as photographers, like to call it, on the patio)

Joy comes to us in many forms.  And you can experience many of them at Canyon of the Eagles; the joy of spending time with family and friends, the joy from being surrounded by nature and wildlife, observing the heavens above at our observatory, the joy of a great meal, and a good night’s rest. But, don’t forget perhaps the most joyous feeling of all; when you are watching the sunset feeling fully relaxed.

We love to bring you joyful noise in our outdoor concert series with a wonderful lineup of entertainers in October each Saturday night; Oct. 2nd Ricky Boen, Oct. 9th Matt Creaton, Oct.16th Ricky Boen, Oct. 23rd Pauline Reese, Oct. 30th Felix Truvere.

WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU!

(Our nature-based guestrooms include organic bedding and toiletries, polished cement floors, soothing decor, and beautiful views)

Plan your visit with confidence, knowing we have no shared ductwork between guest rooms, no elevators, or long hallways to navigate for Covid. We even set up an outdoor check-out box to drop your key off.

We will make sure Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are special for you and your family. Not only will you enjoy a delicious meal, but you and your family (including Fido) will also have plenty of time to enjoy the nature trails, sit around the Smores Firepit at night talking and laughing, find a quiet spot to read a book, and sip a drink.

Visit our website for the monthly activity calendar, COVID policy, and more.
