New Math, A Concert & JOMO
REASON #1, 14+2=16
Fourteen existing miles of nature trails plus two NEW miles equals a total of sixteen miles of groomed nature trails at Canyon of the Eagles. All sixteen miles are open starting today, September 1st. Now that is new math that we can all get excited about! Check out the updated trail map to see Starlight Trail, Whitetail Loop, and Reflection Point – each offering great views and plenty of space to social distance while immersing yourself in nature, walking, hiking, bicycle riding, birdwatching, time with your four-legged BFF, your two-legged teen, or your Boo. How will you enjoy the two new miles?
With over 45 million birdwatchers and 50 million hikers in the United States, we hope the additional two miles will encourage you to make a return visit and share us with your friends. Don’t forget to report your bird sightings to eBird.com to be part of the nationwide birdwatchers phenomenon.
REASON #2, Felix Truvere in concert
Felix Truvere sells out the biggest country music nightclubs in San Antonio and throughout Texas, but you may enjoy an intimate concert by him under the stars at Canyon of the Eagles on Saturday, October 30th with plenty of room to social distance and still have fun. This is a performer and performance you won’t want to miss.
The Eagles Nest Lounge will be open during the concert where signature cocktails and food (Mmm, Dante’s Wings in the photo above) may be ordered for outdoor enjoyment. Or make a dinner reservation in Overlook Restaurant in advance of the concert, or place a to-go order with Overlook Restaurant and dine outdoors on the patio during the concert.
REASON #3, JOMO triumphs over FOMO
FOMO, the Fear of Missing Out, compels us to be on our phones and watch television to feed our compulsion of following the crowd. JOMO, the Joy of Missing Out, focuses on ignoring those urges to find serenity when you disconnect, live in the moment, and enjoy the company of those you are with.
Our digital habits have become so entrenched it is nearly impossible to simply enjoy life even when on vacation. Canyon of the Eagles is proud to be a distraction-free resort and park with no TVs in the guestrooms and WiFi is only available in select areas.
Intentional JOMO is permitting yourself to connect with nature and reconnect with what is important – yourself and those you love!
IN SUMMARY
We encourage you to book your accommodations (guestrooms, RV, tent camping) now. Not only for Halloween weekend when Felix Truvere is in concert, but because the Eagles are in residence for their nesting season, and Monarch butterflies will begin their annual migration from the north through Texas to Mexico (more on this in the next blog in 2 weeks) and the mild weather is the perfect time for walking the 16-miles of nature trails.
Although we are located a one-hour drive northwest of Austin, 1.5 hours north of San Antonio, and 2.5 hours southwest of Dallas/Ft. Worth, and 3.5 hours west of Houston, you will feel like you have been transported to another dimension of peacefulness and fun with activities from our dark sky location, on our 940-acres of Texas Hill Country land, and three miles of private Lake Buchanan shoreline.
