Your Gobble-Gobble Getaway!

If retail stores had their way, we would simultaneously pass out Halloween candy, carve a Thanksgiving turkey, decorate a Christmas tree while popping a bottle of champagne for New Year’s Eve!

At Canyon of the Eagles we not trying to rush the holidays or you; we just want to let you know you have options. We are proposing an upcoming holiday season that won’t gobble up your holiday spirit.

Be Thankful & Leave The Cooking To Us

Raise your hand if you are the designated planner within your family, group of friends or office.

Raise both tired & overworked hands if you are the person who has to shop, chop, roast, and clean.

This year, just say no to all that work.

This blog is dedicated to you!

Consider Canyon of the Eagles your helping hands.

HOLIDAY MENUS-Chef Matthew and his culinary team have been busy developing menus and planning, so you don’t have to. Please click on the links below to see tantalizing holiday menu options beyond turkey, although we have that too. In addition, children’s menus for kiddos ten and under are available for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.

Right now, Thanksgiving Dinner is available only to overnight guests and books fast.   You are welcome to sign up on a waiting list if there are cancellations. However, dinner on Christmas Day is open to the public, regardless if you are staying at the resort.

Reservations are a must and are made with a simple phone call to Overlook Restaurant, (512) 334-2070 ext. 2, and ask for Tami, our Dining Room Manager.

WORKING OFF THAT SECOND SLICE OF PIE

Celebrating at Canyon of the Eagles means you can say yes to the extras knowing we have plenty of enjoyable ways to work off holiday indulgences.

Guided Nature WalksNative American Traditions

Noted Highland Lakes Master Gardener, Willard Horn, will lead Canyon of the Eagles nature walks in November, sharing information about Native American Indians and how they lived in this area using native plants and animals. Willard will discuss the three main Native American Indian tribes that frequented the area. What was their lifestyle like? What native edibles and animals sustained them, and how did they incorporate local plants for medical purposes, to improve their wellbeing, and for health? Why did they incorporate snakes and eagles into their symbolism? In addition, you will search for evidence of flint and tools and see examples of artifacts from Willard’s private collection!

Nature Trails – Walking, Hiking, Biking-Explore 16-miles of groomed trails with your four-legged BFF or other travel companions. Pick up a free trail map in the Guest Services office and have an adventure.  Each path is clearly marked.  Bring bottled water and a fully charged cell phone for taking pics.
