Painted Buntings,(Passerina ciris) is a species in the Cardinal family. They love an area with mixed trees, open un-mowed grass, and shrubs. This habitat describes our nature trails.
The bright plumage of the male only comes in the second year of life.
They are at the resort from April thru August during their nesting season.
Most hummingbirds arrive between mid-March and early May, Only a handful of them stay in Texas year-round.
Species to look for: Allen’s, Anna’s, Black-Chinned, Blue-Throated, Broad-Billed, Broad-Tailed,Buff-Bellied, and
Calliope.
The Red Fox lives in the eastern and central parts of Texas.
It is the largest fox in the state with red-orange fur, white on their snout and chest with a white-tipped tail and
and black hair on their ears and legs. Red foxes are not native to Texas.
